Personaliterarity

From Cheezy via Slightly Mad via...via...via:

1. One book that changed your life?* The Bible (mmm...I got bettah!)

2. One book you have read more than once? A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson. Katz just cracks me the fuck up.

3. One book you would want on a desert island? The Tao Te Ching by Lao Tse. No better time to be philosophical than when you've got that kinda time. It's either that or George Foreman's Big Book Of Grilling Barbecue And Rotisserie

4. One book that made you laugh? One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. This book helped me get through a nine-day hospital stay.

5. One book that made you cry? Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon. Numbers 4 & 5 are kinda interchangeable.

6. One book you wish had been written? Ravi Shankar's Big Note Sitar Book

7. One book you wish had never been written?
*flash forward* _____________ by George W. Bush.

8. One book you are currently reading? America's Promise Restored by Harlan Ullman

9. One book you've been meaning to read? A Confederacy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Several persons whom I hold in high esteem have recommended this to me.

*Black Elk Speaks would qualify for nos. 1 - 5.

Comments:
You "got bettah"? What does that mean?

It's ok if you like the Bible and you believe in Jesus and all that, you know?

I'm just sayin, that's all...

And it's OK if you do, Rach.

Nice choices ... I suppose I could do this officially, but I'm too lazy, so, for the few who give a toss:
1. Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, with Catch 22 a close 2nd
2. Naked Lunch, anything by HST, Post Office and many, many others
3. Good Soldier Svejk.
4. Catch 22 with Moby Dick a close 2nd.
5. Slaughterhouse 5 - but I was a much different person then.
6. *****
7. Pretty much anything by Tom Clancy.
8. Don Quixote, The Arrogance of Power, A Peace to End All Peace (I tend to read three things at once)
9. Beowulf

The sucky thing about these lists is they are never comprehensive. Too many great things to leave out, like most of Shakespeare's histories, contemporary kick-ass lit, short stories, etc.

Ah well. What would I know anyway? I'm just an uncultured slob.

Ook ook

Your #4 is my #9.

I am so totally the anti-Tim. The only book on your list I've read is the Bible.

I make use of the Bible everyday..i stand on it to reach the coffee jar someone keeps pushing to the back of the cupboard!
JOKE!!

Love the got bettah comment sugar. Beelers tells me it is from the Holy Grail. Love it, love it.

Fortunately, I never had to get better from it. I always disbelieved. Ah yes, the life of a merry heathen.

So, nobody is the anti-Tim. I had a feeling I was blaming shit on the right person all these years.

Glad you like the corncob monster, and kudos on all the comments stirred today, you and beelers got some brains a thinkin, and some emotions all tickled, all valid and logged in the I'm ok you're ok opinion book, as for me, the highlight of my day was taking the mongrel for a jaunt and being embarrassed when she stopped to go take a giant poo on the main road in traffic. What are ya gonna do!
Where was I going with this...shrug...

You know, I've been meaning to read "Confederacy" as well. It's required reading for joining the "Pet de Cat Crewe" in N.O.
